Former Lackawanna County Prosecutor Gene Talerico Endorses Jim Bognet for Congress

The Bognet for Congress campaign is proud to announce the endorsement of former Lackawanna County Assistant District Attorney Gene Talerico.

As a longtime prosecutor, Talerico has firsthand experience fighting the opioid epidemic and knows what this scourge has done to communities across Northeastern Pennsylvania. He served in the District Attorney’s Office for more than 25 years and was the Republican nominee for Lackawanna County District Attorney.

For the past 10 years, Gene has served as the President of Marley’s Mission, a nonprofit dedicated to helping traumatized children.

In addition, Talerico has served on the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Medical/Legal Advisory Board for Child Abuse, and he has served as both a Special Deputy Attorney General with the PA Office of Attorney General and a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of PA. He proudly assisted in the drafting of Senate Bill 944, Pennsylvania’s version of Jessica’s Law. The bill increased prison terms for child-sex offenders and included tougher penalties for those who fail to comply with their release conditions.

“I am proud to endorse Jim Bognet for Congress. Washington needs a strong voice who will work to stop the opioid epidemic and will stand firmly with victims of crime,” said Talerico. “With Jim in Congress, Northeast Pennsylvania will have a Representative that puts the safety of the community first.”

“I am proud to have the endorsement of Gene Talerico. Gene is a respected advocate for victims and helped keep our community safe as a prosecutor. Gene’s lifelong service has had a powerful impact throughout the District,” said Bognet.

In just over a month on the campaign trail, Bognet has raised over $150,000 and collected more than 2,400 ballot signatures, the most of any Republican candidate. Bognet is the first candidate in Pennsylvania’s 8th District to go on the airwaves, “Rain Tax Revolt” is the current radio ad: Listen Here.
